Two continents of the earth separated from the rest of the world's land masses by three oceans: the Atlantic (to the east), the Pacific (to the west), and the Arctic (to the north). The Americas are the site of over three dozen nations, and several territorial dependencies; all of these nations were founded by settlers from Europe on the ruins of older Native American nations.
